How long does a patient have
to wait between HM sessions ?
Patients
can have consecutive sessions the following day as long as
the procedure is performed on an area that has not been treated. However, if
the same area is to be treated, we need about 4 months apart between sessions.
Will HM patients require
booster or maintenance sessions to maintain the new hairs generated by HM?
So
far that is not necessary among the test subjects. But I don’t think so.
In their late teens or early
twenties, most men undergo a transition unrelated to androgenetic alopecia from
their teenage hairline to their adult hairline. In a balding patient, would you
restore the teenage hairline? Would you restore the adult hair line? If not, how
aggressive would you go about restoring the frontal hairline?
Each
patient is evaluated on an individual basis. My goal is to restore whatever is
cosmetically acceptable for the patient's age. It would not be appropriate to
give a thirty year old the hairline of a teenager. I have turned down patients
who are seeking Follicle Transplantation to aggressively lower their hairlines.
Assuming that HM can now
yield 60% density consistently from session to session on every patient and
assuming that each HM session lasts 3-4 hours. How many HM sessions will be
necessary to remedy someone's hair loss condition from Norwood 6 to Norwood 1?
I have not tried this so it is hard to come up with a
meaningful estimate. A lot depends on how well the patient responds to the
treatment and the exact density and cosmetic appearance that the patient
desires. Given the assumptions you provided, a very rough estimate would perhaps
be about 10 or fewer sessions. However, I do not want to be held accountable for
this estimate as I have not done this on my test patients yet.
How long does it take before
the new hair follicles start to grow from the time when we first visit your
clinic ?
If
the individual responds to HM, the hair would grow at normal rate.
