Frequently Asked Questions

HAIRmultiplication vs FOLLICLE TRANSPLANTATION

Why did Gho Clinic introduce a new hair transplant technique when Dr. Gho's HAIRmultiplication procedure is widely publicized to be available in a few years' time?

In Dr. Gho's own words "Follicle Transplantation is a pre-study of HAIRmultiplication. The goal was to identify what part of the hair follicle is responsible for hair growth". With this study, Gho Clinic discovered that hair transplantation can actually be accomplished less invasively without having to extract the entire hair follicle in the donor area. Follicle Transplantation has been available in Gho Clinic for several years already on burn patients as a medical indication. The recent decision was simply to offer this non-invasive procedure to those seeking hair restoration for cosmetic reasons as well. Gho Clinic has always been using this technique on patients and this is not something new invented in 2002. There is no diversion from the goal to introduce HAIRmultiplication - which Gho Clinic believes will definitely obsolete conventional hair transplantation procedures.

Will Gho Clinic stop using Follicle Transplantation on patients when HAIRmultiplication becomes available ?

Gho Clinic believes that Follicle Transplantation can actually work synergistically with HAIRmultiplication. In the future, both procedures will be available to Gho Clinic's patients. This will allow Gho Clinic to treat the widest spectrum of hair disorders, ranging from androgenetic alopecia, loss of eyebrows to scar wounds. HAIRmultiplication will be the most efficient treatment for androgenetic alopecia but Follicle Transplantation is still the preferred treatment for scar wounds. Bear in mind that cosmetic hair restoration is a much smaller segment of Gho Clinic in relation to its focus on burn injuries. There will always be burn patients approaching Gho Clinic for treatments, and in most cases Follicle Transplantation is the preferred treatment for these patients. Follicle Transplantation will remain an integral part of Gho Clinic regardless of whether HAIRmultiplicaiton is available or not.

Will patients be advised to wait for HAIRmultiplication as opposed to having Follicle Transplantation now?

All patients are required to be personally examined by Dr. Gho or Dr. Schreurs at a consultation. During the consultation, Dr. Gho or Dr. Schreurs will evaluate the patient's condition and discuss possible treatment options. Patients are advised of HAIRmultiplication research during consultation but no definite date is revealed with respect to its availability. Ultimately, it will be the patient's decision whether to proceed with Follicle Transplantation now or to wait for HAIRmultiplication.

When will HAIRmultiplication be available to the public?

HAIRmultiplication will be available within a few years. Existing patients of Gho Clinic will be among the first to be notified of this new treatment option.

Why do existing patients have overriding rights to HAIRmultiplication procedure over non-patients of Gho Clinic?

Gho Clinic anticipates an overwhelming demand for HAIRmultiplication procedure worldwide the moment it becomes available. Giving existing patients priority will make the situation more manageable as the clinic grows over time to accommodate the demand. HAIRmultiplication patients are expected to be treated one at a time with proper care, attention and not to be rushed in and out of the clinic like an assembly plant. Since all existing patients had already been examined personally by Dr. Gho or Dr. Schreurs and their personal information are already set up in Gho Clinic's database, a lot of the administrative hassles can be substantially reduced by attending to existing patients first.
